PHoCUS Vietnamese Restaurant Coming to 3rd and Market in Old City

It looks like a new Vietnamese restaurant is preparing to join the Old City dining scene.

Old Cilly reports that a new concept called PHoCUS has quietly surfaced at 7 N. 3rd Street, just off Market Street in Philadelphia. The restaurant recently appeared on Google Maps, although details are still extremely limited.

So far, there is no announced opening date, menu, website, or phone number. I haven’t found any media presence. For now, PHoCUS remains a bit of a mystery, only suggesting pho and Vietnamese cuisine will be at the center of the concept.

What makes this location particularly interesting is its long and varied history.

Most recently, the space was home to Makhani Modern Indian, which opened there in 2019. Before Makhani, the address housed Dos Rosas and, prior to that, Bistro 7.

Longtime Philadelphia diners may remember an even earlier tenant: Blue In Green, a popular breakfast and lunch spot particularly known for its pancakes. It has been described as something of a “hipster breakfast place before hipster breakfast places existed,” well before elaborate brunch spots became commonplace around the city.
