Mod Spuds Loaded Jacket Potatoes Opens on South Street
After a successful residency that built a loyal following, Mod Spuds, a fast-casual loaded jacket potato concept by Chef Ange Branca and the team behind Kampar, is officially opening its first brick-and-mortar location on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 1424 South Street, starting at 11 a.m.

Originally introduced as a one-month two-days-a-week residency at Comfort & Floyd, Mod Spuds quickly gained traction for its globally inspired take on the classic jacket potato. What began as a December 2025 pop-up was extended through January 2026 due to demand. Now, the concept returns with a permanent home, bringing back its fan favorite loaded jacket potato combinations and expanding access with delivery for the first time.
Mod Spuds was inspired by Branca’s time studying in Scotland in the 1990’s, where jacket potato bars were and still are a staple. It was Branca’s favorite meal while living there, and she’s always wanted to bring this concept to Philadelphia

At Mod Spuds, the classic loaded jacket potato is reimagined through both global and local flavors, resulting in a menu that spans from Philly cheesesteaks to Malaysian rendang. The opening menu highlights the same signature menu items that made its residency a success, with plans to introduce new flavors over time. Guests can expect toppings such as traditional baked beans, chili con carne, chorizo, chicken tikka masala, BBQ jackfruit, beef rendang, classic Philly cheesesteak, and more. Beverages will include house-made sodas, Malaysian iced tea, soda, and ice cream floats.
The menu includes a range of options for different dietary preferences, including vegetarian and gluten-free offerings.
Starting soon after opening day, Mod Spuds will also be on UberEats, allowing guests to enjoy their favorite loaded jacket potato at home.

“We saw such an incredible response during the residency, and people kept asking us to keep it going,” says Branca. “Opening a permanent space felt like the natural next step, especially now that we can bring Mod Spuds directly to people through delivery. We’re thrilled to welcome back our regulars and meet new guests who told us they were disappointed that they didn’t get a chance to try it the first time.”
Mod Spuds will be open Wednesday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays).
Mod Spuds’ sister restaurant, Kampar, which closed following a fire last year, remains under construction and is expected to open later this year.
With an already devoted fanbase and a format built for customization and convenience, Mod Spuds is offering something completely new to the Philadelphia dining scene and is poised to become a go-to destination on South Street.
