Madis Coffee Roasters Opens in Old City
Madis Coffee Roasters has opened its second Philadelphia location, bringing a passion for the art and science behind specialty coffee to Old City with an immersive on-site roastery, unique blends and single-origin coffees from around the world, and sustainable practices.
Located at 601 Walnut Street in Old City, Madis Coffee offers more than a daily caffeine fix — inside, guests are welcomed by an indoor/outdoor space that harmonizes modern industrial aesthetics with the historic grandeur of The Curtis. The café’s design reflects the coffee shop’s deep connection to farming and global sourcing. Lush greenery, warm wood accents, and authentic red cargo doors symbolize the journey of coffee beans sourced from different regions around the world — creating an inviting, European-inspired café setting where visitors can sit and gather, work, or savor an exceptional cup of coffee.
Doubling as an educational hub, the café offers a deeper understanding of the craft through a first-of-its-kind on-site roastery, the glass-encased space allows guests to witness the intricate roasting process firsthand, learn about bean sourcing, and ask questions about the brewing process. The shop also provides an extensive retail area, stocked with premium home-brewing equipment, and knowledgeable baristas ready to guide customers on their coffee journey.
Madis Coffee Roasters’ sustainable mission is reflected in every step of its sourcing and operational practices including ethically sourced beans from small-scale farms across Central and South America, Africa, and beyond, ensuring fair compensation and sustainable farming methods that preserve the environment.
Madis Coffee Roasters is open on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
