Mélange on Sycamore Now Open in Newtown
Mélange on Sycamore has finally made its debut in Newtown, Bucks County, and early reactions suggest it’s already a hit.
The new restaurant, led by acclaimed chef Joe Brown, has transformed the former Sycamore Grill at 255 N. Sycamore Street into a vibrant, jazz-inspired dining space that blends Southern Louisiana and Italian cuisines.
During a recent invite-only preview, guests raved about both the atmosphere and the food. Standout dishes included a rich crabmeat cheesecake appetizer, fresh oysters, and expertly prepared entrées like filet mignon and shrimp and grits.
The menu includes Louisiana-inspired dishes such as seafood jambalaya, duck gumbo, and pan-seared scallops with corn maque choux, while the Italian side features stuffed eggplant rollatini, frutti di mare, and portobello parmesan.
The space dazzles with a jazzy black-and-white palette, lively murals, and a glass-etched Sycamore tree dividing the dining room and bar.
Mélange on Sycamore aims to deliver a distinctive culinary experience rooted in comfort, creativity, and bold flavor combinations. Lunch and dinner will be served from Tuesday to Sunday starting next week. The restaurant will be closed on Mondays.
Chef Joe Brown has nearly 50 years of restaurant experience, having owned and operated successful restaurants in South Jersey under the name Mélange, which has been revived for modern times in Newtown, PA.
He’s also authored a cookbook and memoir about his life as a restaurateur.
